The Ohio Injury Prevention Partnership (OIPP) is pleased to announce a call for nominations for the 2026 OIPP Promising Practice and Champion Awards.   

Nomination Submissions: Nominations can be submitted by anyone who would like to recognize the outstanding efforts of an individual, organization or program. Self-nominations are accepted. If you need additional information from the person you are nominating, it is appropriate to reach out to them and ask them for some information about their program. Nominations are due by 5 p.m. on Sept. 11, 2026.

Presentation of Award: Those selected will be invited to receive their award during the OIPP’s In-person meeting on Nov. 4, 2026, at the Quest Center in Columbus, Ohio.

OIPP Promising Practice Award

The OIPP Promising Practice Award recognizes outstanding community-based program or agency aimed at reducing the incidence of injury and violence in Ohio. Up to three programs may be recognized annually. When considering an agency to nominate, please consider the following factors:

  •  The program or agency brings attention, prestige and acclaim to an injury and violence prevention focus area.
  • The program or agency engages multisector stakeholders working toward the reduction of injury and violence prevention programs and includes those with lived experience.
  • The program or agency demonstrates the utilization and investment of resources for injury prevention.
  • The program or agency has taken an active role in sharing key findings with other partners in Ohio.
  • The program or agency serves as an encouraging and inspiring example to other cities and communities.
  • The program or agency has demonstrated how injury and violence prevention programs are not only beneficial, but essential, within their community.

OIPP Champion Award

The OIPP Champion Award is presented to an individual or organization which has advanced injury prevention in Ohio through the promotion of evidence-based policies at the state, local or organizational level (i.e., health care settings, schools, etc.) One individual will be recognized annually. By nominating a champion, you can:

  • Identify individuals who have made outstanding contributions, above and beyond, to Ohio’s injury and violence prevention efforts.
  • Encourage others to take action to advocate for evidence-based injury prevention policy change.
  • Promote injury and violence prevention policies supported by the OIPP.
  • Has received state or national recognition for injury prevention efforts.
