Occupant Protection (OP)

The OP Subcommittee is dedicated to increasing awareness of child passenger safety and teen driving in Ohio. Its long-term goal is to reduce emergency visits for motor vehicle crash-related injuries among Ohio youth occupants - lower rates from 221.3 per 100,000 for ages 0-9 and 872.3 per 100,000 for ages 15-19. To achieve this, the subcommittee will expand public access to educational materials, enhance awareness and understand of Ohio's Graduated Driver Licensing and Child Passenger Safe laws, and promote the use of existing trainings, evidence-based practices, and toolkits. By implementing this comprehensive strategy, the subcommittee aims to improve occupant safety and reduce injury rates among Ohio's youth.

The Occupant Protection Subcommittee meetings are held on the 1st Tuesday of February, May, August, and November at 10:30 a.m.
