Specifically, through the five committees of Ohio OPN, our work focus on:

    • Examining statewide data and producing materials to raise awareness about the issue.
    • Prioritizing drug overdose as a public threat.
    • Assisting with the development of state-level recommendations and strategies for increasing capacity to respond to the problem.
    • Raising awareness and educating local partners and communities.
    • Implementing sustainable overdose prevention systems and partnerships at the state and local level.

      OUR COMMITTEES

Ohio OPN is made up of five (5) committees that focus on key strategies and initiatives in various settings to address and help prevent overdoses in Ohio. Our committees include:

      Ohio OPN Pilot Projects

What is an Ohio Pilot Project?

Every year, Ohio OPN seeks for innovative interventions and/or activities that aim too improve and expand overdose prevention efforts to reduce unintentional overdose deaths in Ohio.

      2025 Pilot Projects

Our recipients for the 2025 Pilot Project Fund are as follows:

      Hope Recovery Community.

Hope In Action is a collaborative, data-driven initiative led by Hope Recovery Community to reduce overdose risk and improve community response in Medina County. This Pilot Project will expand targeted outreach and harm reduction education through enhanced marketing of the Hope Hub Vending Machine service, a county-wide Overdose Awareness Event, and data-informed street outreach in high-risk areas. In addition, it will strengthen peer-led navigation through Hope Link, ensuring timely connection to detox, MAT, housing, and recovery support services. Together, these strategies will increase public awareness, cross-sector collaboration, and access to life-saving resources.

      Williams County Health Department.

This Pilot Project is designed to reduce overdose fatalities, increase public awareness of overdose prevention, and reduce stigma associated with substance use disorder. Key components include planning and hosting a large-scale Overdose Awareness event with at least 115 attendees and 12 partner organizations, implementing a stigma-reductions media campaign promoting Narcan vending machines, installing naloxboxes in high-need areas based on data and community input, and conducting targeted outreach to engage at least 500 community members. Through cross-sector collaboration, education, and expanded naloxone access, the project will equip the community with the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to save lives and foster compassion in the face of addiction.
